As you all know I am a fan of eating pigs in all ways…well, most ways. When I think of pig parts I am not interested in eating, the first thing that comes to mind is Pigs Feet, specifically PICKLED PIGS FEET. Dear God, I believe that may be the worst “food” known to man. I mean, I am not a very picky eater in general, and I will pretty much will try any food that is digestible, at least once. That is how I first came to try Pickled Pigs Feet many years ago, at an Art Opening in Lexington, KY. I decided to try the Pickled Pigs Feet that were available as a refreshment next to the cheese and cheap wine, in fact it was brought by the chair of the UK Art Department, as I remember. WOW! What a terrible sensation. I still remember the gelatinous wad of inedible cartiladge, bone and fat in my mouth. “Who on earth eats this #$%#^#?”, I thought. I decided then and there that Pickled Pigs Feet were the worst thing that I had ever put in my mouth, and that I would never ever eat them again.

This video is about the only good thing I have ever seen come out of Pickled Pigs Feet:

http://www.willitblend.com/videos.aspx?type=unsafe&video=pigsfeet
Watch Tom Dickson, the CEO of Blendtec (the best blender in the Universe, capable of blending all manner of objects from hockey pucks to a golf club) blend up Pickled Pigs Feet into a Pig Foot smoothie that would scare the pants off of your average juice bar customer.

Now that I have this pig-blog and all, I have thought about Pigs Feet more than once, and wondered if I should try them again. I mean, that was like 10 years ago, and I am sure my tastes have changed in that time. But, then I think, why on early would I want to do that? However, today, I took a little baby step towards eating Pickled Pigs Feet. Angel, a guy at work, brought in a container of Pigs Feet that his “ol’ lady” cooked up for my coworker and me to try. I am not really sure what all was in it, but it was a stew type dish of Pigs Feet cooked with Chick Peas and served over rice. We both dished out a bowl to sample it.

We nuked them in the office microwave and sampled. Rob ate his first, and seemed to genuinely enjoy it. I was a little skeptical, but tried mine. The dish itself was tasty, but I have confirmed for myself that I do not need to eat pigs feet. As far as I can tell, they are fine to use in a stew or soup for a little flavor and fat, but you aren’t gonna catch me eating them on their own. Pigs Feet are nasty.
